Arriving in Cambridge in the fall of 2023 to pursue an MBA was a thrilling and transformative experience. After nine years in the Marketing and Tech Startups sector in Indonesia, I felt stagnation and burnout, prompting me to seek a meaningful break through an MBA.
The diversity and achievements of my 225 classmates at Cambridge enriched my learning experience, broadening my worldview and helping me discover new problem-solving approaches. Initially, I felt insecure about not having a specific career goal like many of my peers, but I embraced exploration as my North Star.
I delved into healthcare classes, driven by personal experiences, and engaged in culture and arts electives, connecting with industry experts like film producer Graham Broadbent. My Cambridge Venture Project with mentor Collette Johnson enhanced my tech career prospects, while a Global Consulting Project with UNICEF fueled my interest in non-profit organizations.
Choosing a Marketing concentration under Prof. Jaideep Prabhu allowed me to work on real-world projects, adding to my diverse experiences. The Cambridge MBA provided a flexible curriculum, allowing me to tailor my learning to my exploratory journey, free from work constraints.
The most significant aspect was the people I met—classmates, CEOs, political leaders, and cultural figures—who enriched my exploration. Encounters with luminaries like Sam Altman of OpenAI and leading film producers highlighted the program’s unique opportunities.
As I conclude this period of exploration, my career path remains open, but the knowledge and connections I gained have equipped me with valuable perspectives for the future. This journey was about reigniting my passion and curiosity, and Cambridge was the perfect place for it.
