An MD/MBA student at Ross, Christina Shabet, embarked on a transformative journey, overcoming initial self-doubt to make significant strides in pain management. Her Multidisciplinary Action Project (MAP) focused on Transitional Pain Services (TPS) with the Opioid Prescribing Engagement Network, demonstrating the financial feasibility of TPS and developing a financial modeling tool for hospitals. The project won the President’s Choice award at the American Society for Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine conference and led to a publication in the Regional Anesthesia and Pain Medicine medical journal. Shabet, set to graduate in May 2024, looks forward to applying her business acumen to enhance patient care in her upcoming residency in anesthesiology at Michigan Medicine.
