Cornell University’s Johnson Graduate School of Management has achieved remarkable gains in diversity within its MBA classes. In a decade, the proportion of women has surged from one-quarter or less to 43% in 2023, marking a historic milestone for the institution. The school has also seen significant increases in the representation of U.S. minorities (65%) and under-represented populations (35%).
This progress is attributed to a commitment to consistent outreach, partnerships with diversity-focused organizations, and a dedicated Johnson community. The effort to achieve gender parity has been a priority, resulting in a 12-point increase in female representation over three years.
In a time when many schools are experiencing declining MBA applications, Cornell has maintained a strong applicant pool. Their academic standards remain high, with a median GMAT score of 710 and a median undergraduate GPA of 3.35 in 2023.
Overall, Cornell Johnson’s achievements in diversity and its ability to sustain application numbers are setting a notable example in the landscape of graduate business education.
