Oxford Saïd Business School’s new MBA class of 2025 was energized by the inaugural Climate Boot Camp, part of the school’s welcome programme. This 348-student cohort, representing 58 nationalities, engaged with lectures from leading climate experts across Oxford, including Professor Myles Allen and Paul Polman, former CEO of Unilever. The boot camp aimed to prepare students to tackle pressing global issues, with a particular focus on climate change.
Throughout the programme, students were exposed to the latest climate science and debated key solutions, such as emissions reduction and carbon capture technology. Many students, some new to climate science, described the experience as “exciting and illuminating” and noted how it underscored the urgent role future business leaders have in addressing climate issues.
In a thought-provoking keynote, Professor Allen emphasized that climate action is achievable and necessary, urging students to challenge existing climate policies and lead innovative solutions. Paul Polman closed the camp by calling on students to incorporate sustainability into their business practices, stressing the importance of balancing profitability with positive impact on the planet.
This Climate Boot Camp, a first of its kind at Oxford Saïd, left students inspired and prepared to face the challenges and opportunities of a changing world.
