Hale de Vera on Why She Chose the HEC Paris MBA

Hale Berry De Vera, from the Philippines, joined the HEC Paris MBA in January 2023 after working as a Finance Manager at Coca-Cola and a Strategy Consultant at YCP Solidiance. She chose HEC Paris for its international exposure (with over 90% international students) and its specialization in sustainability.

Her biggest challenge has been balancing rigorous academics with activities like networking, job hunting, and student clubs. Returning to student life and working with peers from different cultures required adjustment, but also broadened her perspective.

Selected as an HEC Talents Success Story, Hale found the career center’s company events helpful for understanding her target employers. Initially hesitant about working outside Asia, her MBA experience gave her confidence to pursue international opportunities. Her internship in Paris and exchange in the U.S. reinforced her ability to thrive outside her comfort zone.

Hale was active as vice president of knowledge for both the Consulting and Sustainability clubs, helping peers prepare for consulting careers and organizing events on sustainability.

Hale’s journey at HEC Paris exemplifies the growth that comes from international exposure, academic rigor, and extracurricular involvement, positioning her for a future in sustainability and consulting.
