My first year of MBA at LBS was a whirlwind experience, filled with rapid changes, significant growth, and a mix of highs and lows. Here are some of the most impactful lessons I learned:
- Time Flies – The MBA experience passes quickly, making it important to seize every moment and opportunity. From saying goodbye to graduating seniors to cherishing each experience, the year felt like it operated in “dog years,” with each month packed with significant growth.
- Embrace Opportunities – My mantra for the year was “go for it.” Whether it was leading clubs, participating in fashion shows, or choreographing dances, stepping out of my comfort zone proved to be rewarding and opened up a world of opportunities.
- Balance Self-Doubt and Self-Love – The journey involved a constant balance between self-doubt and self-love, with moments of rejection offset by reminders of my strength and potential. Embracing both vulnerabilities and victories was crucial.
- Build Your Brand – The MBA was an ideal time to build my professional brand, particularly in the luxury industry which I was passionate about but lacked experience in. I leveraged every opportunity, from the Walpole programme to leading the Retail and Luxury Goods Club, to immerse myself in the sector.
- Embrace the Chaos – Managing submissions, club duties, recruitment, and social life was chaotic but deeply rewarding. It helped forge deep friendships and taught me the value of flexibility and embracing unexpected, spontaneous moments.
Reflecting on this hectic yet transformative year, I am reminded to appreciate the journey and embrace each moment—because you truly do an MBA only once.
