Huw Allen, an MBA graduate from Saïd Business School, has embarked on an impressive journey in the world of theatre post-MBA, transitioning from employee to entrepreneur. Alongside his partner, Joshua Beaumont, Huw has launched two major theatrical productions: the 30th Anniversary tour of Yasmina Reza’s ‘Art’ and ‘Birdsong’ based on Sebastian Faulks’ best-selling book.
Both productions exemplify their venture’s aim to deliver high-quality theatre, with ‘Art’ having opened with a nine-date UK tour and ‘Birdsong’ set for a 17-date tour, extending into February 2025. As new theatrical impresarios, Huw and Joshua are not only gaining recognition in the industry but are also exploring long-term strategies, a key lesson from Huw’s MBA days.
Huw credits the MBA for his newfound confidence and strategic approach, noting that it taught him the importance of both long and short-term planning. With a background in leading companies like Apple and Google, Huw was drawn to the MBA program to bridge his interest in business with his passion for show business.
Looking ahead, Huw is optimistic about expanding their productions into TV or film and continues to apply his MBA skills, particularly in interpersonal settings, to drive his current projects towards success.
