The Tepper School of Business at Carnegie Mellon University recently completed its inaugural Business English and Cultural Immersion (BECI) Summer Program, designed to help new international MBA students transition smoothly into U.S. academic life before their fall 2024 term. The nine-week program combined online and in-person sessions focused on improving English language skills, business communication, and cultural understanding.
Led by Kristen Williams, an experienced ESL educator, the program offered students extensive training in business presentations, negotiation, and cross-cultural communication. In addition to academic learning, the program emphasized career development through networking opportunities, field trips, and leadership skill-building activities.
The Tepper School plans to continue the BECI program in future years to further support the success of its international students.
