Pedro Siciliano and Teachy: Revolutionizing Teaching in Latin America with AI

Pedro Siciliano, an MBA student at Stanford and a former business analyst at McKinsey, has founded Teachy, an ed-tech startup aimed at alleviating the workload of teachers by automating bureaucratic tasks like grading and lesson planning through AI. Teachy’s platform, leveraging generative AI models tailored to the Base Nacional Comum Curricular of Brazil, offers tools for creating personalized educational content, thus saving teachers significant time. The company, which provides services in Portuguese, English, and Spanish, serves over 300,000 teachers across Latin America and aims to enhance educational outcomes for millions of students.

Teachy not only facilitates quicker preparation of educational materials but also supports teachers in non-digital environments by allowing uploads of paper-based exams. The startup has seen rapid adoption, reaching teachers from 50,000 schools globally and raising $1.6 million in 2023 for further expansion. Siciliano, driven by his deep-rooted belief in the transformative power of education, views Teachy as a means to empower teachers and, by extension, improve educational and life outcomes across developing regions.
