Seasons of Growth: My First Year at Fuqua

Experiencing all four seasons at Duke’s campus during my first MBA year has mirrored my personal growth. Joining a cohort of 400 high-achievers was both inspiring and challenging, driving unexpected growth.

Summer – Full of Energy We arrived with excitement and ambition.

  • Key Learning: Embrace Open-Mindedness Interacting with diverse peers fostered personal growth.

Fall – The Pressure Begins Recruiting pressure and coursework were intense. Support from my C-LEAD, peers, and second-year students was crucial.

  • Key Learning: Find Your Tribe and Time Management Building a support system and scheduling activities balanced the demands.

Winter – The Toughest Season Recruiting challenges brought rejections and resilience.

  • Key Learning: Learn to Pivot Plans B, C, or D often work better than plan A. Bouncing back is key.

Spring – Renewal and Growth New opportunities emerged, symbolizing perseverance.

  • Key Learning: Healthy Competition with Decency Quotient Fuqua’s emphasis on DQ strengthens our Team Fuqua spirit.

My first year at Fuqua has been transformative, preparing me for the business world and shaping me into a more resilient and empathetic individual.
