Navigating Life’s Unexpected Turns With My Support System

My Road to Fuqua

Coming from a family of Indian chartered accountants, I spent over four years in tax consulting at Ernst & Young, comfortably within my professional zone. However, I yearned for broader business experiences. Living my entire life in Chennai, India, I felt the need for change and decided to pursue an MBA.

Amidst wedding plans with my partner of eight years, Sreepadh, who had just accepted a job in Bangalore, India, we took a leap of faith and married on June 3rd, just before I left for the U.S. This marked the start of our long-distance marriage, making the transition even more challenging.

Family and Friends: My Pillars

My family and friends were my steadfast support, staying in touch and celebrating my milestones from afar. Technology bridged the gap, with video calls keeping me connected to family events. Sreepadh and I dedicated time for calls despite the 10+ hour time difference, meeting every 5-6 months to create special memories.

Fuqua’s Supportive Environment

Fuqua’s partner-friendly environment eased my transition, with many married classmates and supportive faculty. My classmates befriended Sreepadh, and we joined student-organized trips together, including a memorable visit to Japan. Fuqua helped me bridge two worlds, combining new experiences in a different country with strong family ties.

Graduation and Beyond

Graduation was a proud moment, having my family by my side. I am now spending two months in India, reflecting on our journey and optimistic about the future, knowing that distance is just a number when dreams are big and hearts are connected.
