Bruce DelMonico, assistant dean for admissions at Yale SOM, announces the launch of the new MBA application for the class of 2027. This year’s application remains similar to last year’s, retaining key elements such as the essay question, which offers applicants three prompts to choose from: the biggest commitment made, the most meaningful community, or the most significant challenge faced.
Enhancements include an expanded Background Information section, allowing for more contextual details about applicants’ circumstances, aimed at broadening access to graduate management education.
The most notable change is the addition of a new application fee waiver category. Alongside existing waivers for U.S. military members, Teach for All alumni, Forté MBALaunch participants, and Peace Corps volunteers, the waiver now extends to students and alumni from nearly 700 U.S. colleges promoting economic diversity, such as those with 35% of students receiving Pell Grants.
Applicants are encouraged to explore Yale SOM’s resources, including the “Inside the Application, Literally” event, where Assistant Dean Laurel Grodman provides a live application walkthrough. Additional support is available through the Application Guide and direct contact with the admissions team.
