Overwhelmed, Overstimulated, and Over the Moon: Year One of My MBA

Be Prepared to be Surprised!

Reflecting on my first year at LBS, I was overwhelmed, overstimulated, and over the moon. Despite my expectations, no amount of second-hand knowledge could have prepared me for this journey.

Get to Know Your Stream and Study Group!

MBAs are famously social, and my first two months were packed with networking and assignments. I was fortunate to have an amazing study group in Stream B, and we quickly turned into friends. Our last class together made me realize how much I’ll miss seeing these faces daily.

New Learnings!

Joining the Out In Business Club (OiB) as an ally was a highlight. I led the careers wing, attended the EUROUT conference, and helped launch OiB Accelerate, LBS’s first LGBTQ mentorship program. Learning from and contributing to this inclusive community was heartwarming.

Leverage Your Peers!

Strategy consulting was a popular goal, and the journey was competitive. The support from peers, peer leaders, and the Career Center was invaluable. Winter break was dedicated to intense interview prep, highlighting the importance of collaboration and resilience.

Relax and Rewind!

Balancing stress with relaxation was key. Activities like sound bath sessions, spin classes, and Sundowners organized by Student Wellbeing Services helped ground me.

The Best Party at LBS!

Tattoo 2024 was an unforgettable event, showcasing LBS’s diversity and culture. Helping organize it and experiencing the silent disco, talent show, and more was a blast.

Bringing Home the Cup!

Competing in the MBA Tournament (MBAT) in Paris was thrilling. Our cohort’s effort paid off, and we brought the cup home after 12 years, showcasing our competitiveness and talent.

It’s a Great Time to be a Globetrotter!

LBS’s location is unbeatable for travel. Despite initial reservations, I realized the value of exploring new destinations with classmates as local guides.

Final Thoughts

The MBA experience at LBS has taught me the importance of investing in experiences and relationships. Every journey is unique, and stepping out of my comfort zone has been incredibly rewarding.
