Applying for an MBA is a time-intensive process that requires preparation and introspection. Here are six tips to help you get started:
- Update Your Resume: Make sure your resume reflects your recent work, skills, and achievements. Craft effective bullet points now to save time later and gain insights into your career motivations.
- Solidify Your Goals: Align your post-MBA goals with your past experiences. Write down your skills, strengths, and what you enjoyed in your previous roles. Research target industries and companies to ensure a good fit.
- Research MBA Programs: Get to know the programs you’re interested in, such as Tuck. Attend events, connect with admissions, current students, and alumni. Understand how the program aligns with your goals.
- Identify Recommenders: Choose professional references who know your work well. Discuss your MBA plans with them and give them plenty of notice to write strong letters of recommendation.
- Prepare for GMAT/GRE: Decide which test suits you best and start preparing. Aim to have your best score a month before the application deadline to focus on other parts of your application.
- Work on Your Application Form: Begin filling out the application form early. Detail your extracurricular activities, employment history, and achievements to provide a comprehensive view of your background.
By starting these steps now, you can reduce stress and put forth a strong application that reflects your skills and aspirations.
