By Amy Mitson, Director of Admissions, Recruitment and Marketing

Applying for an MBA is a time-intensive process that requires preparation and introspection. Here are six tips to help you get started:

  1. Update Your Resume: Make sure your resume reflects your recent work, skills, and achievements. Craft effective bullet points now to save time later and gain insights into your career motivations.
  2. Solidify Your Goals: Align your post-MBA goals with your past experiences. Write down your skills, strengths, and what you enjoyed in your previous roles. Research target industries and companies to ensure a good fit.
  3. Research MBA Programs: Get to know the programs you’re interested in, such as Tuck. Attend events, connect with admissions, current students, and alumni. Understand how the program aligns with your goals.
  4. Identify Recommenders: Choose professional references who know your work well. Discuss your MBA plans with them and give them plenty of notice to write strong letters of recommendation.
  5. Prepare for GMAT/GRE: Decide which test suits you best and start preparing. Aim to have your best score a month before the application deadline to focus on other parts of your application.
  6. Work on Your Application Form: Begin filling out the application form early. Detail your extracurricular activities, employment history, and achievements to provide a comprehensive view of your background.

By starting these steps now, you can reduce stress and put forth a strong application that reflects your skills and aspirations.
