In recognition of Women’s History Month, the Ross School of Business is celebrating the women in its Executive MBA program who are making significant impacts in the healthcare sector. Despite women constituting 70% of the global healthcare workforce, they hold only 25% of senior roles. The women of the Michigan Ross EMBA program are not only advancing their careers but also contributing positively to their fields by integrating their newly acquired knowledge into their work.
Key Participants and Their Contributions:
- Keren Rosenblum, MD, FACOG, MBA ’25: A seasoned physician transitioning to administrative roles, Keren is using her EMBA to bridge gaps between clinical practice and business operations in healthcare. Her education is already enhancing her role as board chair by improving financial discussions and strategic planning.
- Melissa Grier, MD ’01, FACOG, MBA ’25: As Physician Site Director at Ob Hospitalist Group, Melissa is applying her EMBA learnings to optimize healthcare delivery through supply chain improvements at her hospital.
- Erika Newman, MD, FAAP, FACS, MBA ’25: Chief of Pediatric Surgery at Michigan Medicine, Erika is focused on leveraging her EMBA to enhance healthcare equity and policy advocacy, while also promoting diversity and inclusion within her institution.
These leaders emphasize the importance of diversity in healthcare decision-making, advocating for more women in leadership roles to foster innovation and equity. They also highlight the challenge of balancing professional demands with education and personal life, relying on support from families and employers to succeed in their ambitious endeavors.
