Heather Henyon, a Park Leadership Fellow alumnus and Founding Partner of Mindshift Capital, recently discussed her career trajectory with fellow Park Leadership Fellow Lenna Ohanesian, MBA ’24. Henyon’s pre-MBA career spanned project finance and technology, including a stint at WorldCom. Post-MBA, she ventured into microfinance with the Grameen Foundation, focusing on the MENA region, and later established Grameen-Jameel to support Arab women microentrepreneurs.
Heather founded the Women’s Angel Investing Network (WAIN) and played a pivotal role in Dubai Angel Investors. Her participation in the Angel Capital Association’s Annual Summit led to the inception of Mindshift Capital, a venture fund investing in women-led businesses. This initiative aligns with her philosophy of countering unconscious bias in investment by promoting female-led funds.
Reflecting on her Park Fellowship at the Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management, Henyon highlighted the significance of continuous learning, travel, peer coaching, and meditation in honing leadership skills. She encourages current students to embrace diverse experiences and maintain a growth mindset. Interviewer Lenna Ohanesian, a current MBA student, specializes in finance and investment banking and is an alumna of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
