Oxford Saïd is thrilled to announce the addition of four outstanding Rewley Scholars to its prestigious MBA and MFE programs for the 2023-24 academic year. Jing Chen, Lisa (Xiang) Li, Shahbaz Merchant, and Michael Chan join the historic gender-balanced MBA and highly ranked MSc Financial Economics programs, reflecting the school’s commitment to diversity and leadership development.
The Rewley Fund, initiated in May 2022, facilitates access to top-tier education and the influential Oxford network for talented professionals. This program, supported by Oxford Saïd alumni, has expanded to include scholarships for EMBA, Diploma, and MMPM programs, in addition to MBA and MFE programs. The fund, boosted by generous contributions on Giving Day, has now granted seven additional scholarships.
Jing Chen: Jing, hailing from Merchant College, China, brings diverse industry experience to her MBA journey. With a background in sportswear, beauty, personal care, alcohol, and beverages, she plans to continue her career in these sectors. Jing expresses gratitude for the scholarship, seeing it as an honor and an opportunity to influence her chosen path positively.
Shahbaz Merchant: Shahbaz, representing St. Antony’s College, India, aims to leverage the Oxford MBA for a transition to a buy-side investment role. His interest lies in exploring the applications of artificial intelligence and data science in investing. Grateful for the scholarship, Shahbaz feels a sense of responsibility to maximize the opportunities presented, contribute to the MBA experience, and pay it forward in the future.
Lisa (Xiang) Li: Lisa, from Mansfield College, China, brings a finance background with expertise in corporate mergers, acquisitions, and deal advisory. Passionate about the intersection of investing and sustainability/energy transition, she sees the Rewley Scholarship as crucial for her decision to pursue an MBA at Oxford. Lisa looks forward to being part of the diverse cohort and anticipates a transformational year.
Michael Chan: Michael, representing Reuben College, Canada, views finance as a lever for social and economic transformation. As a recipient of the Rewley Scholarship for the MSc Financial Economics program, he aims to apply his learnings to solve challenging problems within organizations. Michael expresses indescribable honor and gratitude for the scholarship, pledging to carry on the legacy of past graduates in leading an impactful and purposeful life.
