Four years after joining the Master of Quantitative Management (MQM) program at Duke University, the author reflects on the transformative impact it had on their personal and professional growth. After graduation in 2020, they utilized their analytics skills to manage inventory at Amazon Fresh during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic. Later, the author worked on machine learning models at Meta, particularly for content moderation on Facebook and Instagram. The experiences at both companies, paired with the values imbibed from the MQM program, greatly contributed to their professional growth. Recently, the author returned to Duke’s Fuqua School of Business for the Accelerated Daytime MBA program, driven by the desire for continuous learning and leadership growth. They emphasize the “Team Fuqua” culture, which values collaboration and diversity, as a significant influence in their decision to return, and as a core strength they’ll carry into their future endeavors in the tech industry.
