The University of Michigan Ross School of Business has expanded student learning opportunities in India through the Sangam Pant and Supriya Pande Indian Experience Fund. This fund, made possible by a generous gift from Sangam Pant and Supriya Pande, residents of Santa Monica, California, will enable students to pursue action-based learning experiences in India. These experiences include MAP projects (Multidisciplinary Action Projects) and a new short course, “Doing Business in India,” set to debut in August 2024.
When asked about their inspiration for the gift, Sangam Pant explained that it stemmed from Supriya’s desire to bridge their Indian roots with their life in the United States. Both Pant and Pande were born and raised in India but now consider the U.S. their home. They aim to create a bridge that allows others to experience and benefit from the connection between these two countries.
Supporting study-abroad programs and MAP projects in India holds significance for the couple because they believe that exposing the next generation of Ross business leaders to international business environments is crucial. India and the United States are vast markets that can learn and grow from each other’s ingenuity and industriousness.
Regarding their hopes for the students’ experiences, Pant emphasized “serendipity.” They want participants to approach the journey with an open mind and come away with a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
Through their philanthropy, Pant and Pande aspire to “pay it forward.” They consider themselves fortunate and want to ensure that others have the same opportunities and exposure to global experiences that have shaped their lives.
This gift contributes to the Foundations for Success fundraising initiative at Michigan Ross, which aims to support and enhance the student experience through scholarships, internships, and action-based learning experiences.
