The faculty at Marshall have been recognized for their significant achievements in research, teaching, and leadership roles throughout the year 2022-2023. In the Business Communication department, Peter Cardon and Jolanta Aritz’s research on AI-Assisted Writing has been accepted in a prestigious journal, and Cardon was appointed the Bennis Chair in Teaching Excellence.
Data Sciences & Operations saw many faculty recognized for their exceptional work. Murat Bayiz and Paat Rusmevichientong received multiple awards for teaching excellence. Jacob Bien’s co-authored paper won the inaugural JASA Reproducibility Award, and his research with Greg Faletto was accepted for ICML 2023. Notably, papers by Katerina Giannoutsou, Andrew Daw, Justin Mulvany, Kimon Drakopoulos, and Somya Singhvi were also accepted for significant conferences and journals. Several faculty, including Feng Chen, Robertas Gabrys, and Inga Maslova, were granted RTPC Summer Corporate Externships, and Raj Rajagopalan, Ramandeep Randhawa, Peng Shi, and Greys Sosic earned prestigious positions and awards.
In Finance and Business Economics, Scott Abrams, Duke Bristow, Kevin Fields, Emily Nix, Mohammad Safarzadeh, and Julia Plotts received various teaching excellence awards. Cary Frydman won an award for the best paper in Experimental Finance. David Hirshleifer and Marco Giacoletti earned recognition for research excellence, and Chris Parsons and Miao “Ben” Zhang secured significant appointments and recognition.
The Greif Center for Entrepreneurial Studies highlighted the work of Abby Fifer Mandell and Dan Wadhwan, who received awards and prestigious appointments. Hovig Tchalian also received an RTPC Summer Corporate Externship.
In the Leventhal School of Accounting, Kristen Jaconi, Stephen Lind, and Michael Paranal were awarded for teaching excellence. Patti Mills, Smrity Randhawa, and K.R. Subramanyam secured prestigious appointments and awards, and Regina Wittenberg Moerman was recognized for research excellence.
In Management and Organization, Marco Aponte-Moreno, Arvind Bhambri, and Shaun Harper were awarded the Golden Apple Award. Several faculty, including Chris Bresnahan, Joe Raffiee, and Leigh Tost, were recognized for teaching and research excellence. Becky Heino and Jino Lu secured prestigious appointments and awards.
Finally, in Marketing, Miriam Burgos, Lan Luo, Siddarth Sivaramakrishnan, Gerry Tellis, and Larry Vincent received recognition for their teaching and research contributions. Stephanie Tully was appointed the Kenneth King Stonier Assistant Professor in Business Administration.
